The Windsor Mosque offers services of performing marriages (nikkah) by visiting Imam Abdelrahman Nabil, Sheikh Aamir Zaidi, or Sheikh Hassan Rkie, all of whom are licensed marriage officers. This step is required to register the marriage in the Province of Ontario.

Before contacting us for a nikkah ceremony, please complete the below 5-Step Checklist:

• Must obtain all documentation including the Marriage License from City Hall before the date of the Nikkah - only the groom or bride may obtain the license
• The Imam will not perform any Nikkah without a valid marriage license present at the time and place of the Nikkah ceremony
• The Imam will fill and sign the remaining portion of the license, give you a temporary license, and send the paperwork to the Office of the Registrar General 
• The Imam will record your Nikah ceremony into the Marriage Register Book given by the Office of Registrar General and ask both parties to sign
• If you would like to obtain a Marriage License in Windsor, please visit the City of Windsor website below 

• A Wali is a male relative of the bride
• For any inquiries on who can serve as a Wali, please contact the Imam 

• These witnesses must be adults
• There is no requirement to have one witness from the bride’s side and one from the groom’s side 

• The dowry should be discussed and agreed upon before the Nikkah ceremony to avoid debate and save time.
• You can choose to write the mahr into the contract if you wish

• At the Nikkah, the Bride and Groom must present their Birth Certificate or Passport along with a photo ID if it is not already on the aforementioned documents. 
• The name and Date of Birth on the ID must match the corresponding information on the Marriage License. 

• $300 for WIA members and $400 for non-members
• Fees are payable in cash, debit or credit card at the Treasurer Office. If the office is closed during the nikah, only cash payment can be left with the Imam.
