The Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO) is a government-delegated authority administering provisions of the Funeral, Burial, and Cremation Services Act, 2002 (FBCSA) on behalf of the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery.
The BAO Consumer Information Guide: A Guide to Death Care in Ontario is a free consumer-protection information booklet.
The guide is designed to support informed consumer choices regarding a funeral, burial, cremation, and hydrolysis services. It is written for families and the public to know their rights and responsibilities before entering into contracts with organizations that are licensed under the Funeral, Burial, and Cremation Services Act, of 2002.
Our coordinators work with families and next of kin to plan and facilitate the transfer, storage, preparation, and burial of their deceased loved one.
Alhamdulillah, we have our own facility to store, wash (ghusl), and prepare the body (mayyit), in compliance with Islamic principles.

Note: It is recommended to keep the headstone to the minimum size required
Please visit the Service Ontario website & search for “death certificate”.
The direct participation of women in the actual burial proceedings is discouraged according to Islamic principles. Women customarily offer the Janazah prayer in congregation at the mosque, then allow the men to proceed to the cemetery alone to carry the coffin and to lower it into the ground. Once the burial is over, both men and women are encouraged to visit the cemetery to offer prayers for their loved ones, and to use the opportunity for self-reflection.
They may attend the mosque and cemetery to sit and observe only.
May Allah reward you. Please visit the front office staff at Windsor Mosque and let them know you would like to donate towards the WIA Funeral Services account. You may also donate on the website under Mosque donations by selecting “Funeral”.
